the freedom of writing anonymously

i've started this blog to encourage a daily writing practice, and i'm finding that it's orders of magnitude easier to publish when the words are not associated with my public persona. maybe i'm uniquely concerned about how i'm perceived, but i'm much more chill about my public image than i used to be. it seems i have a long way to go, because writing anonymously has felt like unblocking a huge dam in my mind. the words just flow, i don't worry about awkward phrasing or being understood the wrong way, and i don't even have to force myself to write, i just write for fun now. i know that moderating the image you portray to others is crucial to success, but i think i might be over-moderating to the point of stifling my own growth.

reader, if you aren't blogging anonymously yet, i'd highly encourage you to do so. also i love bearblog for the upvote feature. i always see at least a few upvotes on my posts (thank you dear readers, wherever the two of you are!) so i don't feel like i'm writing to a vacuum, i know i'm actually being perceived and possibly even understood (one could hope).
